Curly Hair Haul & My Bounce Curl Review

The New Year comes with new responsibilities and new work to complete, so if there’s any way that I can make my hair routine easier, I’ll go with the fro and try it. I’ll be renewing a few old favourites and giving my honest review on Bounce Curl’s Light Creme Gel.

I’ve restocked a few of my favourite products that were all mentioned in previous posts on my original and updated curly hair routine. Both Kinky Curly’s Knot Today and Curls Blueberry Bliss Cleaner are amazing for detangling and moisturising my curls, so I made sure to stock up on both of them in the New Year.

After hearing so many rave reviews about Bounce Curl products, specifically their Light Creme Gel, I thought I’d try it out to see if it could make my routine easier. I normally use Deva Curl’s Light Defining Gel to style and hold my curls, so I just replaced my normal gel with Bounce Curl.

Results

Pros

  • It has a vibrantly glorious smell that stays even after styling and diffusing my hair.
  • It’s very moisturising for a gel (this is probably because it is a creme gel)
  • It gave definition and life back to some of my looser, limp curls within the first use.
  • It leaves my hair looking soft, moisturised and with an even shine.

Cons

  • Using Bounce Curl on my damp hair, I found the texture of the product on my hair to feel very rough and rigid, as if it was setting my hair as I spread the product through my curls.
  • It doesn’t have a lasting hold like most defining gels.
  • Value for money: the bottle is quite small (8oz) for the price (£20.00)

My overall impression about the Bounce Curl creme gel is mostly positive: smells great and leaves my hair shiny and soft, however, I was personally disappointed by the texture of my hair whilst using it to style my curls and the lack of long-lasting definition. I would recommend trying Bounce Curl if you don’t mind a scrunch-and-go gel but if you like finger-coiling and working the product through your curls you may find this product difficult to use.

What are your favourite curly hair products?
